The Second International Conference on the Future of the Book

Student Materials for Learning: Integrating the Book with Technology

Dr Stephen Zsiray.

The community that supports the education of their children has come to expect the textbook to be not only the curriculum of the school but to be the contemporary source of information. The presentation will describe how the nature and format of information has changed to the extent that the community needs to be informed and understand these changes. The book is an essential component of instructional resources that are available to children but linked with other sources, it becomes a very powerful tool for teachers and students to learn. A strategy for involving the educational support structure (the community) will be presented, along with a discussion of ways in which the community can better understand the evolution of the textbook.
